 | Lot #1228 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AUSTRALIA Incoming Mail 1853 cover from Kent to "Rocky Point, George's River/nr Sydney NS Wales" with remarkable franking of GB 1841 2d with lines strip of four, margins close to large, tied by Barred Numeral "132", also BRIGHTON/MR23/1853 and SHIP-LETTER, crown March 23, 1852, London cds in red, Sydney arrival, boxed "Cooks River" arrival (affected by repaired opening tear), endorsed "uncalled for" & with slanting UNCLAIMED handstamp, few tone spots & minor blemishes, with 2004 BPA certificate (interestingly, the embossed crest on the flap has the motto TRY BUT TRUST. In 1873, Horatio Alger published his novel "Try and Trust". Is there a connection?)
