 | Lot #1225 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH AUSTRALIA Incoming Mail 1841 (Jul 13) O.H.M.S. usage of "Mrs. Muir" illustrated lettersheet ("St Jean d'Acre/After the Battle"), with lengthy letter addressed to John Septimus Roe (Surveyor General) in Swan River, Western Australia, ms "6" in red (private ship letter rate), with curved "Paid Malta" and oval crown "General Post office Oct. 23 1841 Cape of Good Hope" handstamps, endorsed "Via Bombay" (though the Cape handstamp suggests the cover went through the Straits of Gibraltar and then around the Cape), letter professionally restored, otherwise fine, a rare usage to an unusual destination, Roe was a key player in the development of Western Australia and has been called the "Father of Australian Exploration",
