1774-1849 stampless letters, selection of 40+, addressed to either nobility or civil servants, with handstamps including Orleans, St.Chamont, St. Etienne, Sombernon, Rive-de-Gier, Roen, Nice, Beaune, Versailles, Roanne 68 (this one dated 1793 and signed by Joseph Fouche, who later headed internal police, under Napoleon), Armee des Alpes (dated 1797, signed by General Kellerman), Armee d'Espagne (dated 1824), St German de l'Espinasse (1828), also Geneve, as well as two fumigated letters used in 1849 from Marseilles to Genova, one with red "Di Mare" handstamp, others with incoming mail, incl. "Pays D'Outremer Par Le Havre" and much more, fine lot

1850-70 Issues, collection on pages, multiple examples of each value, imperforate and perforated stamps, shades and postmarks, starting with 10c bistre brown (Scott's no.1), also Re-Issues (10c, 20c, 25c), 15c green, 20c black, 40c orange (12 copies), 1fr carmine (9 copies), followed by "Repub. Franc." 10c (5) and 20c (11); Second Empire with many unused, 1fr (No.21 canceled on piece), perforated through 5fr (No.37, six copies), many in rather poor condition (no margins, thins, etc.), still very useful for shades and cancels, with some nice stamps included, high catalogue value
