Lot #307
ETHIOPIA
1907 2g on 2g ("Dagmawi") and other surcharges, including "Taxe a Percevoir" postage due stamp, used in 1908 (Oct 9) on registered cover (prepared by J.A.Michel) used in combination with Obock, Somali Coast and Port Said adhesives, sent from Addis Ababa to Zurich, with arrival pmk (24 October), minor faults, otherwise fine, with 2002 APS certificate. The mixture of stamps is explained by the fact that this cover was sent during the reorganization period in 1908, when the French took over and just before Ethiopia joined the UPU on 1st November, 1908. At this time, the post office was sold out of regular stamps and Mr. Michel used his own stock, including old French Colonial adhesives and Postage Dues, which were all valid for postage. Both Ethiopian and French franking appear correct for a registered cover
