| Lot #502 BRITISH COMMONWEALTH FALKLAND ISLANDS 1857 cover endorsed "Port Stanley/18 November1857" and sent by Falkland Islands Company steamship "Victoria" to Montevideo, then treated as unpaid & carried out of the mails to England aboard the Royal mail steamship "Medway", subsequently franked with pair of GB 2d blue perf, 14 Victoria issue (SG 35), tied by CLIFTON 959 duplexes, with red "6" and INSUFFICIENTLY / PREPAID hs on arrival in England, plus blue manuscript German 3 1/2 Silbergroschen postage due notation in transit. Manuscript German docketing shows "Port Stanley-18 Nov. 57" copied from dateline of contents and underlined notation "Last cover from there". Reverse bears red London cds and red double circle AUS ENGLAND PER AACHEN transit. A remarkable and early cover from Falkland Islands, certainly a noteworthy addition to an advanced collection of the area, exhibition quality, with 2013 BPA certificate
