1802 (Spanish Rule) outer wrapper "Ciudad Real" (capital city of Chiapas) in brown, to the Captain General of the Kingdom of Guatemala, addressed to Field Marshal Antonio Gonzalez Mollinedo y Saravia (Captain General from 1802 to 1811, later Viceroy of Mexico), fine. Up to independence in 1821, handstamps are known from 15 different towns

1811 (13 Dec) FL from Neva Guatemala to Veracruz, with "Viva F.VII/Guatemala" in red, also 2 1/2r rate for a single letter within Mexico, little ageing, otherwise fine. King Ferdinand VII of Spain ruled from 1814 to 1833 (he was prevented earlier by Napoleon from succeeding to the throne in 1808). The patriotic markings were in use from 1809 to 1814
