1838 autographed letter signed by Franz Liszt, sent to the Chevalier Catrufo "En Ville" rue Mortholon 7 Bis, enclosing a complimentary ticket to his concert, one page with integral address-leaf (small faults), 8vo. Franz Liszt was an Austrian/Hungarian composer, pianist, conductor and teacher. He became renowned for his virtuosic skill as a pianist and was said by his contemporaries to have been the most technically advanced pianist of his age. In the 1840s he was considered by some to be perhaps the greatest pianist of all time. A fine autographed letter from Liszt

1877 (28 Nov) registered cover from Mauthausen to a doctor to His Majesty the Sultan in the Yildiz Palace in Constantinople, franked by 1867/74 5kr red and 15kr brown, tied by Mauthausen single ring cds in black. On arrival, the cover was charged by the City Post for local delivery with 1866 Liannos Post Postage Due 10 paras black on yellow label with additional manuscript 1 (piastre) notation, as the cover was not collected by the addressee (Foreign Post Offices within Turkey were not allowed to deliver mail direct). Manuscript notation at top "Recu en Decembre 1877" and reverse with Austrian Post Office Constantinople cds and Turkish Constantinople cds in blue (Dec 8). Cover with strengthening inside at top and some ageing but a remarkable and rare usage. Certificate Scheller (2010), also 2013 letter from Isfila, stating they are unable to verify the Liannos "Poste Locale" due to lack of reference. As such, we are offering this cover AS IS

1878 (19 Feb) stationery 5kr envelope (partly repaired at right), additionally franked with 5kr and 10kr and on back with 2kr yellow, sent from Trieste to Montevideo, addressed to the Austro-Hungarian Consulate, with the 2kr stamp cancelled 3 April 1879 "Correo Montevideo", with "Uruguay Paq. Belge 1 Mars 78" postmark, fine and interesting usage, with copy of an article (undated) from "Uruguay Filatelico" titled "El Correo Maritimo Belgica-Uruguay" where this cover is actually shown
