 | Lot #2241 IRELAND 1927-28 Wide Setting (SG 86-88) 1927 The so-called "Foley Block", 2sh6p chocolate brown (Somerset House Printing), upper left sheet corner margin block of ten, top eight stamps are all wide dates, lower pair (R.5/1-2) are both narrow dates, h.r., with some toning and creases at bottom, otherwise fine and scarce item. As there is no known setting of the composite plate with this arrangement, this is considered to be either a failed trial using part of a Thom plate in combination with part of the all-Narrow Plate A, or it may be a precursor to the all-wide plate, which made its appearance late in December1927  *Catalog #SG 86var | Price Realized $475.00 |
