RUSSIA Russian Offices in the Turkish Empire
1860-1910 Mt.Athos, collection of 20 covers, with or without franking, some addressed to the Russian Monastery at Mt. Athos, bearing arrival markings (ROPIT Afon), one from Tiflis, sent via Batum, with ROPIT Constantinople transit, others from different parts of Russia, normally with wax seals indicating covers contained money intended for the Russian monks at the monastery. Also included are 17 parcel receipts, all with postal markings, some with Ottoman fiscals. In addition, there are two ROPIT (Compagnie Russe de Navigation a vapeur et de Commerce) customs declarations (1860 and 1866), indicating contents and maritime details, interesting lot
