 | Lot #232 COLOMBIA Air Post 1919 2c carmine rose, unused with dried gum, well centered, strong color, faint toning on reverse, otherwise v.f., pencil signed, with 1950 Philatelic Foundation Certificate. This stamp was issued for the First Experimental Air Mail Flight from Barranquilla to Puerto Colombia and back, by the American aviator William Knox Martin, June 18, 1919. For this, 200 copies of 2centavo stamps were overprinted at Barranquilla Printing Office. This was executed in horizontal strips of ten, which were severed with a guillotine knife, causing horizontal perforations to have a "cut" appearance.
