1851 6p yellow on blue paper, full to clear margins all around, red "paid" cancel, used on Valentine cover addressed to Philadelphia, with "Providence of New Brunswick" and "Express Mail St. John Feb 13 1854 (?)" cancels, v.f. and rare, with 1992 Philatelic Foundation Certificate. From July 23, 1853 through early 1856, the U.S. Post Office extended steamboat letter service to St John. A fabulous cover, ex-Chapman, Dale-Lichtenstein, Weill, Clifford-Jones, J. Robertson and Wilkinson collections

BRITISH COMMONWEALTH NEW BRUNSWICK
1851 6p yellow, vertical pair, full to just clear margins all around, tied by "27" grill cancels on registered letter form to Boston, with blue New Brunswick handstamp, with St. Andrews (January 11, 1855) departure on reverse, fine and rare, only six 1/2oz registered letter rates to the US are recorded (including three with this franking), this being the only registered form known, bearing stamps (the form was used for the forwarding of registered letters and postmasters were required to keep these forms as proof of delivery, which is especially rare since this left the country), with 1990 Vincent Greene certificate, ex-Saint and Wilkinson collections
