1927 De Pinedo Overprint, 60c black, pos. 12, well centered, l.h., fresh and v.f. example of this world-class rarity, with 1980 BPA and 1984 Vincent Graves Greene certificates. This issue was intended for use on airmail flown aboard a plane piloted by Italian aviator Francesco de Pinedo. 300 stamps were overprinted, of which 230 were used on correspondence, 66 presented to De Pinedo and various dignitaries, and 4 damaged and destroyed. It is estimated that only 33 unused examples have survived to the present day (SG 163, £38,000, Unitrade C4, $60,000)

1933 Balbo Flight Surcharge, $4.50 on 75c yellow brown, partially doubled surcharge, clearly visible in the numbers of the date and value (partial offset of the surcharge on reverse as well), position 1 of the setting and the only one recorded unused (there was an example on cover in the Cyril Harmer collection), small surface mark at left (seems to be from the surcharging process), very fine in all respects, 2010 BPA certificate (Unitrade C18iii, listed but unpriced)
