 | Lot #1185 RUSSIA - ZEMSTVO LOKHVITSA 1899 3k yellow and red brown, well centered, imperceptible thinning at top, still a fine example of this Zemstvo rarity, ex-Baughman, rated RRRR, with brand new certificate from Dr.Greis ("The item submitted for expertisation is genuine in every aspect. Its preservation is average. Two thin spots and a hinge remnant have to be accepted with respect to the great rarity of this used S1 stamp of Lokhvitsa. I know only three such stamps. (This is not one of the stamps which were stored at the Zemstvo administration of Lokhvitsa, where they were found in 1909, ten years after their actual time of use. All those stamps show punched holes for archiving procedures with threads). This copy however, does not show such a hole and the postmark is the blue Zemstvo postmark in gray blue violet") * | Unsold |
