 | Lot #148 CONFEDERATE STATES OF AMERICA Regular Issues 1862 (2 Apr) Clarksville, Georgia cds with matching straight line "Paid" handstamp & manuscript "5" rate on turned cover to High Shoals, Ga (the inside use is a pre-War 1859 usage from Philadelphia to Clarksville, Ga, franked with 1857 3¢ dull red tied by "Philadelphia" octagon postmark), fine turned usage of a pre-War United States & Confederate States; also 1861 cover with Macon, Ga, Nov 27, double circle date stamp (Dietz type V) with matching "Paid 5" in circle handstamp, addressed to Savannah; plus 1861 cover from Charleston, S.C. to Mrs. Louis Manigault (Louis Manigault was the son of a prominent wealthy rice planter from South Carolina. Manigault served as secretary to Dr. Joseph Jones, a Confederate surgeon and professor at Medical College of Georgia) in Macon, with matching "Paid 5" rate handstamp in circle, included is printed Adams Express Company, Charleston Receipt, fine lot, signed Dietz
