 | Lot #196 ARMENIA 1922 (12 Mar) folded document registered from Allaverdy to Erevan, franked with perforated 25r gray, surcharge omitted, tied by "Allaverdy, Tifl." cds, with Erevan (16 Mar) arrival pmk. This is the only known usage on cover of 25r (First Constantinople Issue) without surcharge. The rate at the time was 1,500r, but it was possible for the official Soviet organizations to use the lower 25r rate. Very few used examples of 25r exist (this being only known on cover). A wonderful gem of Armenian philately (described in the C.Zakiyan monograph), last sold through Cherrystone in April 2004 (lot 377, $24,750 including 10% commission)
