1857 5c blue, thin white wove, large margins all around, affixed over red wax seal, used in combination with United States 12c black (36), position 73L1 (rare double-recut variety), red "Honolulu U.S. Postage Paid Apr. 12" circular datestamp, both stamps tied in transit by "San Francisco Cal. May 21, 1861" circular datestamp on cover to Brooklyn N.Y., stamps with minor wrinkles, cover roughly torn open around area of stamps and repaired with piece added to upper left corner, stains at right, otherwise fine, with notes on back stating that the 12c 1857 perforated issue is far rarer in U.S. and Hawaiian mixed frankings than its imperforate counterpart, signed Ashbrook (July 1941), ex Knapp and Lakeshore collections,
