1932 (November 14) Darius-Girenas Memorial overprinted Issue. A two-line circular inscription in green within a double circle reads: "Lituanicos Laimejimas Tegul Stiprina Lietuvos Sunu Dvasia Naujiems Zygiams" (May Lituanica's Victory Inspire the Sons of Lithuania to New Ventures), the complete set of five in blocks of four, fine-v.f. only 100 printed (after the crash, the Consul General of Lithuania in New York requested that the remained of the unsold stamps (100 sets) be again overprinted to memorialize the aviators, with proceeds to be used for erecting a monument in their honor. A major rarity and true showpiece item, with 2014 Dr.Klein certificate (a set of singles sold for $3,105 in our Matuzas sale in September 2011) (Lithuanian Handbook CA6-10)
