FRANCE Flight Covers
1929 (1 Nov) flight cover from Bahia Blanca to Comodoro Rivadavia, with boxed "El Piloto" handstamp and actually signed by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, v.f., with arrival pmk. Only 168 flown. (Antoine de Saint-Exupery was an aristocrat French writer, poet and pioneering aviator. He became a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and also won the U.S. National Book Award. He is best remembered for his novella The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince) and for his lyrical aviation writings, including Wind, Sand and Stars and Night Flight. He was a successful commercial pilot working airmail routes in Europe, Africa and South America. At the outbreak of WWII he joined the French Air Force, flying reconnaissance missions until France's armistice with Germany in 1940. After being demobilized from the French Air Force he went to the United States to convince its government to quickly enter the war against Nazi Germany
