 | Lot #234 AUTOGRAPHS OF FAMOUS PEOPLE 1944 Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965), German, later French physician (also theologian, musician and philosopher) and medical missionary in Africa. He received the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize for his philosophy of "Reverence for Life", expressed in many ways, but most famously in founding and sustaining the Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Lambarene, now in Gabon, west central Africa (then French Equatorial Africa), letter from Dr.Schweitzer's hospital, dated 11 March 1944 and signed by him, also the corresponding envelope to England, censored, plus four additional covers from the hospital, one addressed in Schweitzer's hand.
