 | Lot #881 JAPAN Ship Mail 1915 cover to USA, franked with 10s ultramarine, tied by violet Hawaii-Maru I.J. Sea Post 27.11.15 pmk, minor cover faults at left, otherwise fine and scarce. Hawaii Maru was completed as a passenger cargo ship in 1915 for the Osaka Shosen Kaisha (OSK) Line which she served for more than 26 years. Requisitioned by the Imperial Army in 1941, she served as an attack transport for the invasion of the Philippines. In December 1944, Hawaii Maru was sunk off Japan by an American submarine
