| Lot #54 UNITED STATES Flight Covers 1927 (June 29) Byrd Transatlantic Flight, commercial cover addressed to England, endorsed "Via U.S. Airmail Plane America Commander Richard E. Byrd", with France 1.50fr added in Cherbourg (machine cancel) for delivery to England. The monoplane "America" took off from New York and after a 42 hour flight was forced to land on the beach. The mail pouch was soaked and hence this cover shows some evidence of water logging, fine and rare commercial cover, likely carried as a favor by Byrd
