1914 (2 May) combination picture postcard from a village in Stavropol (also referred to as Stavropol-on-Volga) district to Rostov-on-Don, franked with 3k green (Ardatov type), tied by a decorative "Stavr. Zemstvo Samarsk. Gub," with Imperial 3k red added alongside, tied by Stavropol cds, with Rostov (7 May) arrival pmk below, minor card creases, otherwise fine. Stated to be the only known example of this particular post office stamp (in 1964, the city was renamed Tolyatti - after Palmiro Togliatti, the longest-serving secretary of the Italian Communist Party)
