 | Lot #2130 POLAND POLAND Number 1 - numeral cancellations 1860 (108) Sandomierz, 10k dark blue and red, nice colors, variety defective frame and deformed numerals at top right, stamp slightly repaired at top, cancelled by indistinct numerals on cover (backflap missing, filing folds) to Warszawa, with bilingual town stamp and red (18/3) arrival pmks on back and partly showing through on front, fine appearance. This cover is addressed (in French) to the daughter of the attorney Niedzialkowski (his grandson, Mieczyslaw Niedzialkowski was a Polish politician and writer, activist in the Polish Socialist Party, editor in chief of "Robotnik," published several works on socialism and Polish politics. He also took part in the defense of Warsaw in 1939, organizing the volunteer militias. Subsequently arrested and executed by the Gestapo) (B-6)
