United States Postmaster's Provisionals New York, NY
1845 5c black on bluish, margins all around, tied by red "Paid" cancel on outer folded letter to Paris, forwarded under cover from Mexico, probably carried inside another letter by S.S. "Juan de la Granja," to New York, with October 22, 1845 postmark in red, postage paid "per Steamer via Boston," placed aboard the "Hibernia" departing November 1st, via Halifax to Liverpool and London, where red "Colonies and Art. 12" Anglo-French exchange mark was applied, arriving in France on November 21st, with "15" (decimes) charged to the recipient. A fine and rare origin (while there are no postal markings to confirm the origin, the notations in Spanish indicate "Mexico" and the "SS Juan de La Granja"), with 2012 PFC ("genuine usage, stamp with creases and a 2mm portion of the upper left section of the "C" in "ACM" painted in")

1845 5c black, signed ACM (AC connected), margins all around, v.f., used in 1846 on outer FL from New York, via Boston, where cds was applied to stamp, Paris, Liverpool and London to Switzerland, with red "Colonies &c Art 13" applied in London, also "T.F." and "Paid" handstamps, with French and English transits on back, Chaux-de-Fonds arrival cds, first line of the address eradicated, with 2012 PFC ("genuine usage, stamp with lightened manuscript cancellation")
