| Lot #2129 RUSSIA Russian Ship Mail 1914 (5 Aug) Chinese picture postcard franked with 4k Romanov, written by a Danish worker in Vladivostok to Copenhagen. World War I, which started two days earlier, cut off Russia from communication with rest of Europe. This card was put on board a ship leaving Vladivostok for Japan, where the "Paquebot" cachet was applied. At Tsuruga, the card was postmarked 20.8.14, went across Japan to Yokohama (28.8) and from there to America and Denmark.
