| Lot #372 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS PERU 1877 (12 May) cover from Lima to Paris, franked with 10c green, tied by a cork killer, with departure cds alongside, with British Post Office in Callao transit cds on back, marked with "T 1-70" handstamp (Salles 3.079,400), used in the interim period after Britain and France joined the UPU, but before Peru had joined. It indicated an amount due, based on weight, for transit in British mails. The cover was carried by "Don," which departed Colon, with London transit and Calais receiving cds (13 June), also handstamped "23" (decimes) due from recipient since the cover was sent unpaid from Peru
