| Lot #260 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS CHILE 1886 (Jan) cover from a British seaman, "H.M.S. Conquest," at "Coquimbo, Chile" to his family in London, franked with single 1d lilac. The stamp paid the sailors' concession rate and was cancelled on arrival in London, countersigned by the commanding officer of the ship, with arrival pmks, backflap missing, filing fold away from the stamp. British stamps were used to pay soldiers' and sailors' concession rate long after the UPU was in effect and the British Postal Agencies in South America had been shut down
