COLOMBIA Flight Covers
1929 Interrupted Mail, May 16 - Junkers F-13 "Choco", two covers, one with a special label, another with "Star" cachet (cover with enclosure, which is an invitation to Alicia Trujillo's wedding to Fred Kessler, the legendary air mail dealer), fine-v.f., the latter with Alex Rendon cert. When taking off at Girardot, the "Choco" was crowded into the river bank by a river steamer and turned over in the water. The soaked mail was returned to Bogotá. Most covers, having lost their stamps, received an official printed notice, which could be used instead of stamps when re-mailing the cover, either in its damaged state, or with the letter put into a new envelope. Only four recorded covers with the star handstamp, with copy of Debby Friedman's article regarding these items
