| Lot #376 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS PUERTO RICO 1865 (7 Nov) outer FL from San Juan to Madrid, franked with 1d red (pl.81), 4d vermilion (pl.7) and 1sh green (pl.4), cancelled by "C41" in oval, with faint departure cds on back, carried Royal Mail Steam Packet Company steamship "Solent" to St. Thomas, from there by steamer "Shannon" arriving Southampton (28 Nov), through France, apparently in a closed bag, with Madrid arrival (17 Dec) pmk on back, with red Spanish Post "2" in crayon indicating 2 reales due. A fine cover to Spain, very early use of British stamps in Puerto Rico
