 | Lot #350 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS PERU 1862 (29 Dec) cover from Lima to Paris, internal postage paid with 1 dinero red, cancelled by grids, with departure pmk alongside, sent via Callao, with British Post Office transit pmk on back, carried to Panama and put on the steamer "Solent," from Colon to St. Thomas, than on the "Tasmanian," arriving at Southampton, with London transit (Jan 31, 63) and "GB 2F 87 5/10c" accountancy mark to indicate there was an amount due for British transit, with French "Col.Fr. Ang. Am. Calais" entry pmk (applied in error, since Peru was not a French colony and this cds was usually applied to mail from Martinique and Guadeloupe), also additional "12" (decimes) due from recipient, since the cover was sent unpaid from Peru, cover roughly opened, with some toning
