1849 (7 Nov) FL from Tepic to Lima, forwarded in Mazatlan by Pedro Faure, sent by steamer "California" to Panama, November 22nd, forwarded by unknown agent, 1 shilling "Paid in Panama" (crown circle in red) then by the Pacific Mail Steamship Co. steamer "New Grenada" departing November 27th and arriving at Callao on 9th December. The penciled "2" is the 2r charge in Peru (1r for ship letter and another 1r for internal postage), fine. A rare cover to Peru, used during the gold rush

1875 (20 Oct) cover (slightly reduced at left) to Newark, England, franked with horizontal strip of 3x4d vermilion (pl.13), wing margin at left, plus pair of 6d gray (pl.13), wing margin at right, paying double rate of 2sh, all cancelled "C35, with Panama departure cds below, carried by steamer "Moselle" from Colon, arriving Plymouth 12 November, with Newark (13 Nov) backstamp, back of the cover showing "H.M.S. Tenedos" imprint, most of the backflap missing, fine usage (a similar cover, also paying 2sh in stamps, to the same address is illustrated in "The British Post Office in Columbia 1821-1881," page 67)
