 | Lot #273 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS ECUADOR 1862 (1 May) small cover from Southampton to Guayaquil, franked with two wing-margin pairs of 6p pale lilac, with London transit and Panama May 22 arrival postmark. From Colon, the mails were carried across Panama and south by the Pacific Steam Navigation Company steamers. Stamps somewhat creased and cover refolded at top, fine destination, with Holcombe cert.

 | Lot #275 MARITIME MAIL IN THE AMERICAS ECUADOR 1871 (25 Feb) outer FL to Barcelona, paying 4/10d with 10d red brown and two 2sh blue (all plate 1) tied by oval "C41" cancels, with Guayaquil double arc departure datestamp on back, three line "Panama Transit 5 Mar" datestamp on front (steamer to Panama, train across the Isthmus), with cover put on the Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. steamer "Seine" which sailed from Colon on 7th March, with London transit (6 Apr), "PD" in circle applied, indicating postage paid to destination, minor paper lettersheet strengthening, fine, with Brian Moorhouse cert. (the 4/10d rate is accounted as having been charged 3sh for the Guayaquil to U.K. portion, balance for U.K. to Spain). A remarkable cover
