1857 1/2p rose, horizontal strip of six, incredible margins all around, cancelled by three target postmarks and used on FL to Kingston, with Colborane, U.C. Sp 1 1857 departure datestamp below, straight line "Registered," alongside, arrival pmk on back, filing folds through first and fifth stamps, cover cleaned and partially restored, most attractive appearance. Stated to be the only recorded example paying the 1/2 ounce registered letter rate within Canada, ex-de Volpi, Nickle, Harrison, Wilkinson (lot 79, sold for $8,625), Hacmey collections, shown in Harrison, Arfken and Lussey (p.49) and Arfken, Legget, Firby and Steinhart (p.124)
