 | Lot #514 HUNGARY 1871 (Lithographed), the iconic "first printing" in dark yellow, cancelled "Pest 18/8/73 Terezvaros", good color and perforations, expertly repaired and rebacked, fine appearing example of this world-class rarity from Hungary, only a few known to exist, with 1973 Hungarian certificate; also 2kr postal card and 5kr money order form, both used. The first printing was of poor quality and stamps were immediately withdrawn and destroyed. Only a few copies of 2kr survived and were used in Budapest in the summer of 1873. One sheet of 100 with inverted center was found in a tobacco store, used by an insurance agency in Budapest in January 1925.
