 | Lot #179 COLOMBIA Air Post 1920 Curtiss Aereo Plane & Motor Co. (Glen Curtiss started as a motorcycle manufacturer. Alexander Graham Bell lent financial assistance. The two inventors focused their ingenuity on the Curtiss motorcycle engine to power the first Curtiss airplane. Glen Curtiss, sometimes called the "Father of Aviation" opened his patent without compensation, truly advancing aviation) advertising labels, a spectacular group of 20 different, including nine which were converted into postage stamps (the other eleven were discarded because designs were not considered appropriate or not conveniently arranged for overprinting), unused without gum as issued, h.r., occasional minute thin specks and wrinkles, one "Moon and Plane" label rounded corner, others mostly v.f. Many philatelists consider these labels as proofs or essays (*) Catalog #C2-10E | Unsold
