Lot #556
VIETNAM, NORTH
1978 Flower, horizontal block of 20 (10x2) with margins on both ends, yellow printed double once inverted, inverted yellow printed diagonally from bottom left to top right leaving left five stamps in the top row normal, with a back stamp in the bottom row margins with a red "L" in circle, with 2008 APS certificate stating “printer’s waste, ungummed as printed, genuine” (also a note stating “There are double yellow printings with one inverted and struck at approximately 13 degrees angle to the horizontal. There is an authentication hand stamp on the back in the selvage, a red circle with an L by Lucian Lu. As to how the inverted color came into existence, it was most likely done intentionally. There is a lot of printer’s waste from this period now in collector hands. This block was perfed after the second yellow was applied, suggesting the printer wanted to complete the preparation of the press."
