1895 25c red brown and black, center inverted, horizontal pair, left stamp with a small thin, nibbed perfs, otherwise fine, with 1999 APS cert. It is believed that only 40 examples were sold at a post office counter before the error was discovered, and the remaining copies were destroyed. Of the 40 that were used, only a small percentage were recovered and saved, making this an exceptionally rare error This is the only known multiple of this rare inverted center, ex-Lee (YT 109a, catalogue value for singles), also with a newspaper clipping of an article by Martin Sellinger

1895 25c red brown and black, center inverted, cancelled on piece in combination with additional 5c adhesive, neat 28 April 1896 Montevideo cds, v.f., with handstamped guarantee marks, 1995 APS cert., ex-Col. Green collection and illustrated in Lee (E.J.Lee formed a Grand-Prix collection of Uruguay in 1936). It is believed that only 40 examples were sold at a post office counter before the error was discovered, and the remaining copies were destroyed.
