 | Lot #7 UNITED STATES - OFFICIALS State Department 1873 $2, $5 and $20 centers inverted, plate proofs on card, the complete set of matching bottom half sheets of five, all with inverted imprints and plate numbers; minor flaws including $2 (left stamp with a small surface scrape at bottom left, center stamp with reinforced vertical crease, right stamp with a tear at center); $5 (middle stamp with a reinforced vertical crease), $20 (middle stamp with a reinforced vertical crease, left stamp with small thins), still very fine, ex-Earl of Crawford, Ackerman, Ehrenberg and Markovits collections, with 2004 Philatelic Foundation Certificates. A matchless set of the greatest importance, $2 and $20 being largest known multiples of its value (according to the research of the noted student of Official stamps, Robert Markovits, there were only two sheets of 10 each of the $5 and $20 inverts produced, and only one sheet of the $2 value.
