1858 (Nov 17) Express envelope with enclosure, traveling via Sydney C.B., Pictou, thence St. John N.B. and finally via ms "Keith Co's Express Elm Street" (Boston), vertical straight line "Ship letter" and "13" handstamp (paying 10c express + 3c US mail). heretofore unrecorded, ex Pratt. A number of Express Companies ran their own vessels between St.John and Boston. The usual charge was 1 cents, with a 3c U.S. stamp added for delivery in the United States. This letter has a "13c" collect charge (similar to those from Sydney or North Sydney), but no Boston pmk, or a U.S. adhesive. It was probably hand delivered by Keith's Company Express, Elm Street, Boston
