1870-71 Ballon Monte, collection of 24 covers or folded letters, also five unused postal cards and three letter sheets, written up on pages, with names of balloons clearly identified. The early items include "Ville de Florence," "Les Etats-Unis," "Le Celeste" (2), "Armand Barbes" (2), "Le Washington" (2), "Le Vauban," "La Gironde," "General Uhrich" (two, one to London). Also included is "La Ville d'Orleans" (recovered by a Norwegian schooner, with Dec.11 arrival at Dinan), "Le General Renault" (Brussels arrival), "Ville de Paris" (three, two to Switzerland, captured Wetzlar, Prussia, delivered after the war, another returned to Paris in July), "Tourville," "La Delivrance," "Le Newton" (two, both to London), "La Poste de Paris," "General Bourbaki," "Richard Wallace" (salvaged from crash into the sea, red "SC" postmark, stamp missing, without arrival), occasional flaws, mostly fine-v.f.
