1850 45 centesimi gray ultramarine (azurro scuro), vertically laid paper (carta a coste verticali), block of six (3x2), fairly ample margins, cut little close to just touching at top and bottom, tied by six strikes of "Venezia 8 Dec" datestamps on large outer folded letter (l'involucro di plico) addressed to Crema, with arrival pmk. The letter has been refolded to improve appearance, with intact seal still on reverse, signed Bolaffi, with 2007 Giorgio Colla certificate which records this to be the largest known multiple of the laid paper ("il massimo multiplo e me noto del 45 centesimi costolato, straordinaria rarita"). This block of six on cover is not priced in any catalogues. As a point of reference, we note that an ordinary block of four of 45c (Sass.10) is priced at Euro 240,000 on cover. A single 45c (Sass.10) is priced at Euro 80, while a single laid paper (Sass.17a) is catalogued as Euro 1,100.00 (a multiple of 13)

1858 (18 June) folded letter to France, paying 1,40 Lire with machine paper adhesives including a horizontal pair of 10c black, 2x15c vermilion and 3x30c brown (one with sheet margin at left), tied by Milano 18/6 cds, with "P.D." and "Autriche 20 June" French entry pmk, both in red, also Lyon transit and St.Etienne arrival pmks on back. The lettersheet has been professionally restored along the file fold, with parts of the address portion repainted. A beautiful three color multiple franking of the first issue Lombardy-Venetia, signed Bolaffi etc., with 2007 Sorani certificate ("la lettera, con la sua rara affrancatura tricolore multipla e di note vole freschezza, e originale, ha annuli originali ed e in ottimo stato di conservazione.")
