 | Lot #136 GERMAN EAST AFRICA Wartime Use of International Reply Coupons 1915,1917 two coupons, one cancelled in Tabora April 1915 for inclusion in a mailing to the Deutsche Hilfsverein; the other cancelled with the Fieldpost No. 3 handstamp on September 24, 1917, to validate it as currency for the Liwale region. Most of the IRCs were enclosed in mail passed through neutral Portuguese East Africa to the Deutsche Hilsverein in neutral Sweden. This organization required three IRCs to re-route an enclosed letter to Germany and send its response to German East Africa.
