 | Lot #199 GERMAN EAST AFRICA The Final Chapter 1919 (31.3) picture postcard (Governor Schnee and General von Lettow-Voerbeck leading the parade of the returning Schutztruppe through the streets of Berlin) from Ada Schnee, New Zealand born wife of the governor, to a district officer interned at Sidi Bishr, Egypt, oval "Passed by Censor No.15" and "Prisoner of War" endorsement, fine. Lettow-Vorbeck's invading force laid down arms at Abercorn, Northern Rhodesia on November 25, 1918, two weeks after the Armistice. Early in March, the Schutztruppe's surviving Germans marched through the streets of Berlin to the Brandenburg Gate, wildly acclaimed by the crowds as Germany's undefeated army
