Dobbertin to a seminarian in Germany, notifying him that he was sending a new series of picture postcards costing 3 Marks (2.25 Rupees), with Nachnahme (Cash On Delivery) label requiring payment (filled in by pen). The 20 Heller stamp cover the 4h postcard and 15h registration fee, the cash to be paid on arrival. Postal regulations allowed amounts up to 600 Rupees to be transmitted to sender, but this is stated to be the only recorded Nachnahme mail from German East Africa to a foreign destination
