 | Lot #128 GERMAN EAST AFRICA Fieldpost - Station No. 3 1917 (4.8) turned envelope (opened for display to reveal that it was originally from Mahenge, the only remaining civilian post office, to the Imperial Governor in Liwale), with official Government seal, addressed to "Das Kommando der Schutztruppe" on Lake Utungi (headquarters of von Lettow-Vorbeck), with Fieldpost Station No.3 pmk, rare. This adversity usage illustrates that late in the war even government offices were affected by paper shortages

 | Lot #129 GERMAN EAST AFRICA Fieldpost - Station No. 3 1917 (21.3) double strike of Feldpost Station No.3 on pre-paid 7 1/2 Heller envelope to a Lady in Liwale, fine and scarce civilian use, stated to be one of only two prefranked envelopes known to have been transmitted via any fieldpost station, signed Mansfield. Feldpost Station No.3 was in operation from early July 1916 until the beginning of November 1917 and discontinued shortly before the reduced German forces crossed the Rovuma River into the Portuguese East Africa
