MONGOLIA Russian Post in Mongolia
1905 (21.4) registered cover (opened for display) from Urga to Austria, franked on both sides with the Russian War Orphan stamps (issued in 1905 with surtax donated to a fund for the orphans of soldiers killed during the Russo-Japanese War) 3k, 7k and 10, paying the correct 20k foreign registered rate, with Katerinky (21.5) arrival pmk, large cover tear (mended) and some other wear, also a cover back from the same correspondence with 2x5k franking, completing the set of four stamps, with Urga departure (26.4), Troitskosavsk (29.4) transit and Katerinky arrival pmk. These two items were a subject of an article by Mr. Cronin in the "Post Rider" No.23 (pp 69-70) and are the only recorded examples of the first Russian semi-postals used in Mongolia
