 | Lot #2093 ETHIOPIA 1899 registered cover from Addis Ababa to St.Petersburg, sent by a doctor (N.Brontzine) serving with ambulance unit of the Russian Orthodox Mission to Abyssinia, registered postage of 50c paid at Obock, French Somali Coast (15.12) carried overland and forwarded by a French packet, with "La Reunion a Marseille L.V. No.2" datestamp, also transit mark of the Russian border town of Granitsa, where violet "Obessarazheno" (fumigated) hs was applied to indicate disinfection, arriving in St.Petersburg on 7 Jan. 1900, with appropriate transit and arrival pmks, minor cover wear, fine and extraordinary historical item (one of only two known from this correspondence)  | Price Realized $2,100.00 |
