Lot #1213
RUSSIA Air Post
1923 (Oct. 19) registered cover (open for display) flown from Moscow to Switzerland, franked with a combination of RSFSR four each of 3r, 4r, 5r, 10r and 20r (all on back) and gold kopeck Soviet issues with 1k, 3k, 4k, 6k and 10k (issued just one week prior to this cover's posting). The correct registered airmail letter rate was 50 gold kopeck. The old RSFSR inflationary currency had to be converted into gold kopeck at daily published conversion rate. On 19th October it was 565 to 1, hence the 168r franking on reverse of this cover equaled 29k (gold), combining for 53k (gold), more than enough to send this letter, with red Konigsberg air arrival cachet and handwritten Moscow registration detail, fine and scarce combination franking, filing fold away from the stamps
