 | Lot #958 ITALIAN COLONIES Trieste Zone A 1954 25L rose carmine, unissued "Pinocchio", block of four, well centered, fresh and v.f., with 2009 Colla cert. The Pinocchio stamp was issued in Italy on October 26, 1954 and was overprinted "AMG-FTT" with the intention of being used in Trieste under the Allied Military Government. However, shortly afterwards, control of Trieste was returned to Italy and the stamps were destroyed. Only a few sheets survived, making this a major Italian rarity (catalogue value for singles)
