 | Lot #5175 RUSSIA Russian Ship Mail 1913 (20.7) cover (with company's cachet on backflap) to Helsinki, put ashore at Stettin, Germany (today Szczecin, Poland) where the Russian franking (strip of 5x2k Romanov) were cancelled. The use of Russian stamps was initially deemed invalid and the "T" was applied to tax the letter as unfranked mail. The "T" was then crossed out, as the cachet "Aus Dampfschiff" (From Steamship) validated the stamps, with Helsingfors arrival 22.7.14 on back, v.f.  | Price Realized $600.00 |
